Customized Private Virtual Tour
Customized Private Virtual Tour
The scheduled events open to all, but if you’d prefer a more exclusive experience about a specific topic at a time that suits you, we can plan a customized virtual tour. Please fill out the questionnaire below so we can get started (and don’t pay until we’ve had a chance to plan)!
Topics for your customized virtual tour or online class (with slideshow) can be on anything I’ve offered, or about something you’re particularly interested in (scroll to the bottom for a list of ideas). For example, perhaps you’ve gone to my Palio talk but would like to know more about a particular aspect of the race or the Contrade, or maybe an artist or historical figure has piqued your interest. Have you fallen in love with Michelangelo’s marble sculptures, or would you like to get to know a particular saint better? Or would you like to get to know the artistic, culinary, and cultural highlights of a particular region or the cities you’ll be visiting (once it’s safe to travel again)? Let me know and I’ll prepare something just for you.
While lockdown restrictions are in place, private virtual tours will only take place in Siena. As spring approaches, I should be able to go to Florence, San Gimignano, and beyond (fingers crossed!).
All events will take place over Zoom (details to be sent after payment received). Talks/tours will be recorded and available to you for one week afterwards.
Please contact me so that we can set a date, time, and topic!
Length:
• 1 hour or 90 min
• We can certainly go for more (or even less) time, but most of us can’t stay focused on the screen for more than 90 min!
Cost: Prices start at €150.
Ideas based on talks given:
The Palio and Contrade of Siena
Why Italian Art History? Linking the Pantheon, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, and Michelangelo’s David to you!
A Guide to Recognizing your Saints (we can choose a theme or you can tell me your favourite saints and I’ll build our presentation around that)
Flora & Fauna: Decoding Mythological and Christian Symbols in Art (let me know your favourite animals and flowers - there might be more to them than you think!)
Virtual Tour of Tuscany (an overview of this rather marvellous region)
Women Artists (focussing on 15th-17th centuries and the “rediscovery” of women in art today)
Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s Allegories of Good and Bad Government and their Effects on the City and the Countryside (ca. 1340) (yes, 14th-c Sienese politics DO apply to you!)
Virtual Tours:
Siena: I love every inch of my adopted hometown and we can go anywhere and cover any topic, focussing on local saints, or the Palio and Contrade, or medieval life and politics (or a combination of it all)! Please let me know if there is a particular aspect you would like me concentrate on, and of course, you are free to ask me as many questions you like along the way!
Other options for Virtual Tours (coming soon - I hope!): This is to give you an idea of where else we could go, but until restrictions are lifted, Siena is our only option! I will update this when I know more…
Florence
San Gimignano
Monteriggioni
Colle Val d’Elsa
