A special exhibition dedicated to the flags and drums of the 17 Contrade of Siena. After exploring the main level of the hospital of Santa Maria della Scala (the Pellegrinaio is one of my favourite spots in all the city!), head downstairs (making sure to see the Oratory of Santa Caterina della Notte, and of course you must peruse the original parts of Jacopo della Quercia’s Fonte Gaia), THEN enjoy walking through this space, surrounded by the colours and beating heart of Siena. Since you will no doubt want to extend your stay, head further down again to make your way to the former laundry, and onto the charnel house! Santa Maria della Scala truly has it all!
